In addition to history-oriented summaries and source material, PAHRC also features a collection of traditional spiritually focused literature in the form of Catechisms, Devotional Works, and Liturgical Books dating from 1633 to the present.

The oldest Catechisms date back to the seventeenth century, and include: Dottrina Christiana, 1633 (printed in both Italian and Arabic) and the Lucerna Fidelium, 1676 (printed in Gaelic). Others languages represented in later works include: Arabic, Armenian, Canadian Indian, Chinese, Czech, Filipino, Kalispel (Flat-Head), French, German, Greek, Hawaiian, Italian, Kanachchatageng, Latin, Mendi (Sierra Leone), Polish, Russian, Sanskrit, Lakota (Sioux), Sign Language, Spanish, and Tagal (Philippines).

Devotional Works found in the collection were published in several different languages and produced for use in various countries around the globe. These include: Chinese, Chinook-Indian, French, Gaelic, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Latin, Polish, Sioux-Indian, and Spanish.

Liturgical Books are typically found in such traditional languages as: Arabic, Armenian, Coptic, Geez, Georgian, Greek, Latin, Magyar, Malayalam, Romanian, Slavonic, and Syrian.

The collections that contain catechisms and devotional works were maintained separately as of 1990. Catechisms and Devotional works collected after that date have been cataloged in the General Pamphlet Collection and can be found by searching our online catalog.
