Since its establishment in 1808, the Diocese of Philadelphia has changed boundaries as new dioceses were created which included sections of the Diocese of Philadelphia. This article from the April 17, 1961 issue of The Catholic Standard and Times, illustrates the changing boundaries of the Diocese of Philadelphia and the new dioceses which were created from it. In 1875, the Diocese of Philadelphia was erected into an Archdiocese and all of the dioceses in Pennsylvania became suffragan diocese of Philadelphia. The article also shows all of the suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia with the date of their creation.
